ALLERGY ALERT:

Dear Parents,
There are students in your child’s class that have been diagnosed with significant allergies to peanuts, tree nuts and nut products. Children with nut allergies can have potentially life-threatening consequences if they are exposed to nuts. Trace amounts of nuts left on tables, books, or having contact with other children after they’ve eaten nuts can be dangerous. As we know children tend to share with their classmates, therefore we would like to ask for your help in managing this situation.
The classroom has been designated Nut Free, please do not send in items for your child’s daily snack that contain peanuts, any tree nuts, peanut flour, peanut oil or any other nut product. We need you to send in healthy snacks for your child to eat that won’t endanger the other children. We have attached a list of nut-free snacks that you could use as alternatives for your child.
PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED LIST OF SNACKS THAT ARE SAFE FOR YOUR CHILDREN TO BRING INTO THE CLASSROOM. ALSO PLEASE READ THE LIST OF SNACKS THAT WE CANNOT ALLOW INTO THE CLASSROOM (such as homemade treats and unlabeled items). IT IS FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL CHILDREN THAT WE ASK YOU TO READ LABELS AND ASK QUESTIONS.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR COOPERATION IN KEEPING OUR STUDENTS SAFE!!
Sincerely,
Laura Mahler, Principal
West Maple Elementary School
